Change Okta Lifecycle from Staged to Active

Shortly before a new employee starts, we want to be sure they are able to access their information and verify the provisioning has worked as expected. We want to activate the Okta account and confirm that the user has completed the required security steps and accessed core systems.

The systems/services being acted upon

  • Zendesk
  • Okta

Credentials required & how/where to obtain

  • Zendesk API to update the ticket
  • Okta API to move the user from Staged to Active

Additional Oomnitza field required/recommended

Results

The new employee should receive both an email from Okta (activation) and Oomnitza (explaining the process) allowing them to connect, test, and verify systems are working before their first day.
